Winter of Reading is coming

What is the best thing to do during the long cold winter months? Why, read of course! Anyone who is a Book Person (and aren’t we all) can tell you that the best way to spend a cold day is curled up with a good book, listening to some tunes and sipping from a steaming mug of tea.

New ideaLAB Hours for Families and Adults!

If you haven't heard about it already, the ideaLAB is DPL's makerspace, located in the Central Library in the Community Technology Center. What's a makerspace? Well, it's a place for making stuff - music, art, robots, games, websites, purses, paintings - and giving you access to the tools you need to do so (we have 3D printers, the Adobe Creative Suite, a music studio, a Dremel - see our complete list of tools here). We opened two years ago as a space just for teens, but we've been slowly adding more hours for other ages.

Increased Hours at Bear Valley and Schlessman in 2015

Expanded Hours

Expanded hours gives Lowry and Southwest communities additional access.

“The increase in hours at the Bear Valley Branch Library gives customers more access to our services and also gives a consistent start time throughout the week,” said City Librarian Shirley Amore. “We worked closely with Councilwoman Jeanne Faatz and the Denver City Council to increase these hours that ultimately benefit the Southwest Denver community.”

I hate to go all “holiday cliché” with this post, but there is nothing better than opening a present before Christmas. That’s why, today, Volume will be giving out five local albums to any Denver Public Library cardholders.
