Help Us Share the Gift of Stories
Support Denver Public Library’s Read Aloud Program
Every week during the school year, more than 280 classrooms across Denver light up with the joy of storytelling. Thanks to the dedication of over 160 Read Aloud volunteers, more than 5,600 children experience interactive storytimes that spark curiosity, build early language skills, and create meaningful connections with caring adults.
At the Denver Public Library, we believe every child deserves this experience. And we believe every child deserves to own a book they can love, revisit, and share at home. That is why at the end of each semester, children participating in Read Aloud receive their very own bilingual giftbook to keep.
These giftbooks are more than a present. They are:
- A bridge between school and home learning
- A way for families to read together in the language they are most comfortable with
- A tangible boost to developing literacy skills
- A symbol to each child that reading belongs to them
This part of our program is deeply loved and only possible through donations and grants from people who care about early literacy as much as we do.
How You Can Help
Make a Donation
A gift of any amount directly supports the purchase of bilingual giftbooks.
You will be redirected to the Denver Public Library Friends Foundation donation page.
Employee Donation Matching
Many employers will match your gift, doubling or even tripling your impact. If your workplace offers matching gifts, you can submit your donation to the Friends Foundation for a match that helps provide even more bilingual giftbooks.
Grants & Sponsorship Opportunities
Do you know a business, nonprofit, community group or philanthropic fund that supports early childhood education or literacy? We welcome connections and partnerships. Your introduction could help us reach thousands more children with books they can keep at home.
Share Ideas
Community support is at the heart of this program. If you have creative ideas for fundraising, sponsorship or collaboration, we would love to hear them.
A Community Effort We Are Grateful For
We are deeply thankful for:
- Our readers, who bring stories to life every week
- Our donors and grant partners, whose generosity ensures every child takes a book home
- Our educators and school partners, who welcome us into their classrooms
- Our families, who carry the love of reading forward
Together, we are creating a literacy-rich environment that reaches beyond the classroom and into children’s everyday lives, helping them keep on loving reading.
Help Us Keep the Story Going
With your support, thousands of Denver’s youngest learners will continue to discover the magic of books — not just in a moment, but for a lifetime.
Thank you for believing in the power of reading and in the potential of every child.
