Program Description

Event Details

Join the University of Denver’s Low Income Taxpayer Clinic for a presentation about your taxes in the gig economy. This presentation is for self-employed individuals, especially those who work for companies like Lyft, Uber, DoorDash, Instacart or who are Etsy crafters or even dog walkers on Rover, etc. Being self-employed has certain implications for your taxes, like making quarterly estimates of your income tax, and accounting for deductible business expenses. Self-employment also means paying payroll taxes, like FICA and Medicare, too. Join us as we give an overview of the federal tax system and how you fit in it as a self-employed individual. Q& A to follow.  Program will not be recorded.

Please click here on April 13 at 5:00 PM to join the program or register below if you'd like to receive an email reminder. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to join this virtual Zoom session.

The University of Denver’s Low Income Taxpayer Clinic is an organization independent from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that represents low income taxpayers before the IRS in audit, appeals, collections and federal tax litigation. This presentation will be given by two J.D. students who are currently enrolled in the clinic.
