In this creative writing class, we will investigate how to engage and access memory in order to write about our own lives. Over 4 weeks, participants will explore different creative writing prompts to create short works of memoir. Beginners are welcome! No previous writing experience is required. If you’re living a life, you have all the experience you need for this class.

This class is located in the Community Room of Hirschfeld Towers. 

Sara Veglahn

Instructor Bio:
Sara Veglahn is the author of two novels: The Ladies (2017), winner of the Noemi Press Book Award for Fiction, and The Mayflies (Dzanc 2014). She earned an MFA from UMass-Amherst and a PhD in literature and writing from the University of Denver. For the past 20 years, she has taught literature and creative writing at several institutions of higher education, including UMass-Amherst, the University of Denver, Metropolitan State University of Denver, and Naropa University. She lives and writes in Denver where she offers manuscript editing, one-on-one mentorships, and classes.
