This talk will explain the origins and growth of the American hop industry in the past 150 years to explain why beers today taste and smell the way they do.

Peter A. Kopp is associate professor of history at the University of Colorado Denver. He is the author of the award-winning book Hoptopia: A World of Agriculture and Beer in Oregon’s Willamette Valley and is currently writing a history of the New Mexico chile pepper industry.
