Dementia Dialogues: Brain Health Equity in the Hispanic/Latinx Community

While Hispanics are 1.5 times more likely than non-Hispanic whites to have dementia, more research is needed to understand why. They also receive fewer services than their white counterparts. Dr. Karen Orjuela will give an important presentation about the inequities of brain health in the Hispanic/Latinx community. Dr. Orjuela is an Assistant Professor of Neurology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, specializing in Vascular Neurology. In addition, she serves as Co-Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Department of Neurology. 

This event will take place on Zoom and is hosted by the CU Anschutz Multidisciplinary Center on Aging, the CU Anschutz Alzheimer’s and Cognition Center, the UCCS Aging Center, and the Denver Public Library. 

It is part of a series called Dementia Dialogues: A Path to Equity in Brain Health.
