Dear Library Community,
Thank you for your support during this difficult time.
We wanted to inform you that a Denver Public Library Friends Foundation volunteer and her husband have tested positive for COVID-19. She is a volunteer in the Red Chair Bookshop. The volunteer was last in the Central Library the afternoon of March 6, and was not experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 on that day. We do not know where she may have contacted the virus and may not ever know. The Friends Foundation team has been in contact with the volunteer to check on her and her husband. Please keep them in your thoughts.
We have been in touch with the City’s Emergency Operations Center regarding this development. If you have questions about COVID-19 please visit the City and County of Denver’s website here.
Our libraries are community hubs and we understood early on the importance of keeping our staff, volunteers and customers safe. Prior to learning about our volunteer, we were proactive and made the difficult decision to close all locations on Monday, March 16 until further notice. We regret learning of our volunteer’s illness and hope that everyone remains safe and healthy.
Sincerely,
Michelle Jeske
City Librarian
