Central Library Temporary Expanded Hours

As temperatures are expected to rise again this weekend, the City & County of Denver is taking additional steps to help community members stay safe during the extreme heat. As part of a citywide effort, the Central Library will temporarily extend hours until 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, August 8–9, to provide a safe place for people to cool down.

To support this effort while balancing staffing and operational needs, Floors 1-4 will remain open until 7 p.m. The following areas and services will close at their regularly scheduled time:

  • Reference Services
  • Floors 5 and above

This temporary hours change aligns with the City's broader response to the extreme heat. In addition to Central Library's extended hours, Denver Parks & Recreation will also keep several recreation centers near downtown open later than usual to serve as cooling centers.
