Do you have a craving for a doughnut? Decker Branch Library is celebrating Denver Days by providing free doughnuts to our customers on Saturday, August 6, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Coffee, tea and juice will also be available. And if you're craving a good book, we have plenty of them. And they're free, as well!
Come hang out with the library at the Illegal Pete's on Broadway from 6-8pm! Celebrate the Around Denver campaign with us while playing Bocce and enjoying some delicious burritos from Illegal Pete's. AND, if you come between 6-8pm and show your library card, Illegal Pete's will even give you one menu item for FREE. Can't wait to see you there!
Celebrate the end of summer with us by going on a walking tour of the Sweet Action Ice Cream shop. The walking tour will start at Ross-Broadway at 2 p.m. and proceed to the ice cream shop where it will terminate with a scoop of ice cream for all participants. This program is free, open to adults only, and limited to the first 20 participants on a first-come, first-served basis.
Can you imagine what it is like to be chained to a desk with nothing but a mouse for entertainment? What must it be like to be kept in a tiny box and ignored for eight hours a day? For many downtown office workers this is their day-to-day life. The Denver Public Library and Denver Animal Shelter are teaming up to help these needy office workers break the shackles of sedentary, corporate life. Come and see big-hearted, friendly adoption dogs rescue loving people and take them for a walk. They’ll even take you out for a spin – that’s how much these dogs care about you!
Indulge in ice cream with neighbors and donate a nonperishable food item to the Greater Park Hill Community Emergency Food Bank. Bring a can if you can. Learn about volunteer opportunities that will deepen your connection with your community.
The grill will be on with delicious hot dogs for everyone!
Also, the Chess club will be held outside, so grab your hot dog and something to drink and join us for some chess!
All ages and eating levels welcome!
