Research shows that how we think and talk about aging makes a huge difference in how we experience it. The more positively we feel about getting older, the healthier we will be. The fact is, however, that we live in an ageist culture, which makes it hard to feel positive about aging and older people.

Ageism is both external and internal. But not matter where it comes from, it can be damaging to our health and longevity. So let's fight ageism in our culture and in ourselves.

In this interactive workshop on Zoom, we’ll explore:

  • How general public thinks about aging and ageism in America
  • The negative effects of ageism—prejudice, stereotypes and discrimination based on age—on our health, financial security, our communities and the economy
  • Why changing our stories, based on research by the FrameWorks Institute, can reduce ageism and create a more favorable climate for the kinds of policies and practices that help us all thrive as we get older.
  • Specific strategies for telling a different story

You’ll leave with some concrete tips and examples, and strategies for spreading the word about reframing aging.
