Program Description

Event Details

In honor of National Poetry Month, join Harvesting Hope facilitator and Poet Confidence Omenai as she employs poetry as a vehicle to support those struggling with mother wounds, motherhood, and being and feeling unmothered. Mother’s Day is marching toward us and for many, that day is a double-edged sword. This session will provide a brave space where participants will use poetry exercises to redefine motherhood on their own terms. Ideal for ages 18 and up.

The suggested companion book for this month is Mama, by Terry McMillan. Read at your own pace or listen to the audio.

Harvesting Hope is an intentional community for African American older adults to learn new ideas, read books that speak to their experiences, create, heal, and share resources while building an ongoing support network. Facilitated by Confidence Omenai in partnership with the Denver Public Library.

*This program is part of a series. Topics vary from month to month.
