Program Description

Event Details

Join us for the Black Genealogy Search Group's virtual two-part Biennial Heritage Seminar and 40th Anniversary Celebration. Our theme is "Standing on the Shoulders of our Ancestors" on October 15 and October 22.

Our presenters for both days will be Omer Jean Winborn and Cheryl Garnett renowned historians, genealogists and authors. When you can’t find an ancestor that is on your pedigree chart, you might consider thinking outside of the box and looking to the North. You might find them in Canada and Nova Scotia. They may have used the Underground Railroad. These two scholars will discuss key forgotten historical information not taught in our schools; the Underground Railroad laws and abolitionists; and how to use your DNA results to find more living relatives who may be descendants of these 'missing' ancestors.
