Are you an adult seeking to create safer and more inclusive environments for LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent youth? Empower yourself with foundational knowledge and practical skills to affirm and show up for the young people in your life at this unique intersection.

Key sections:

• Define LGBTQ+: Review the meaning and nuances of LGBTQ+ identities, including the distinctions between gender and sexuality.

• Define Neurodivergent: Explore the neurodivergent umbrella, including co-occurring identities and access needs. We will primarily focus on ADHD and Autism.

• Self-Identity Is Valid: Embrace the importance of self-identity for LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent individuals.

• Understanding Executive Function: Recognize the impact of executive function on individuals, including challenges related to sensory processing, interoception, and proprioception.

• Support Through Challenging Times: Discover effective strategies for supporting neuroqueer youth in various settings, from home to school and beyond.

• Inclusive Environments: Recommendations for creating inclusive spaces, safety plans, and building authentic relationships with neuroqueer youth.

Attendees will leave with actionable takeaways and a commitment to positively impacting the lives of these young individuals. After the session, further resources will be provided to support your ongoing learning journey should you opt in.

Charlie Ocean, MSW (they/them), is an award-winning LGBTQ+ speaker, trainer, and consultant who is neuroqueer and nonbinary. With a background in social work and over two decades of experience in LGBTQ+ community organizing, they have trained thousands of youth and adults on various LGBTQ+ topics in multiple settings. Their sessions incorporate humor to create an engaging and non-judgmental experience.

Charlie is a connector at heart, and the host of Allyship is a Verb, a four-time award-nominated podcast. The podcast won the Rainbow Mic from the Sonic Bloom Awards in January 2024 and was nominated for The Ambies in 2023.

Charlie publicly changed their name from Chris Angel Murphy starting August 12th, 2023.
