Hip Hop Theatre is an outgrowth of African Orature. Orature is a term that is used to foreground the unique skills and production of the oral artist and to give this work and process equal weight and legitimacy next to written texts. Orature is a means of preserving the history and culture of individual peoples through performance. This art includes storytelling, proverbs, riddles, chants, call-and-response, songs, gesture/mime, as well as other simultaneous presentational techniques. In Orature, important cultural information is passed down from generation to generation.

Fresh City Life has been creating new knitters since Fall of 2004 with the aid of our expert knitting teachers and the relaxing 3-part classes. The ultra portable, easy-to-learn cousin of knitting; our beginning crochet class is a great way to take up this retro hobby. Instructor Christa Rogers will share tips, techniques and her love of this fiber craft in this 3-part workshop. And once you have the basics down, Christa will share a handful of great patterns for you to choose from for your first project. This workshop will also be a great foundation for our advanced class coming up this summer – Hyperbolic Crochet – a fantastic approach to crochet that leads to very sculptural pieces.
