Stephen J. Cannell 1941-2010

Stephen Cannell's credits include being the author of 16 novels, creator of programs like The Rockford Files, The A-Team, and The Commish, and writer of over 450 TV episodes.

Cannell passed away due to complications of melanoma.

Who is Richard Castle?

Naked Heat

Mysterious fictional author Richard Castle releases his second book, Naked Heat, on September 28. Fans of the show will be happy to know that the new season of Castle starts on September 20.

Richard Castle is inspired by mystery novelists and TV writers like Stephen J. Cannell and James Patterson. Both best-selling authors make cameos on the television show. The first book written by Castle, Heat Wave, was not only featured in the show but was an important plot point in one of last season's episodes.

Born today in 1953, Ken Burns has been entertaining and educating audiences for 30 years, and is credited with perfecting the long documentary style, epitomized by his opuses Jazz and Baseball.

Calling PBS home, he has directed over 19 films, most recently The National Parks: America's Best Idea.
With only a few minor exceptions, the library owns Burns' complete works.

I love Freaks & Geeks

Great TV shows are constantly being released on DVD, and the library is a fabulous place to revisit wonderful shows that you may have missed. Freaks & Geeks was a comedy drama that aired during the 1999-2000 television series.

It was produced by Judd Apatow, who brought you various comedy hits such as Knocked Up and The 40 Year Old Virgin.
