Feeling lost when it comes to technology? You have a few opportunities to learn at the Ross-University Hills Branch this week:

LISTEN UP!

Nipper and the Gramophone

According to a recent article in USA Today, Denver ranks as the 8th worst city in the nation for traffic congestion.

If you feel your blood pressure rise during your commute or while running errands, why not make use of that time and listen to a book on tape?

You could reread an old favorite, learn a new language or fill in those gaps in your knowledge by listening to a biography or classic you never got around to reading.

eBooks: Update for iPod, iPhone, iPad, and how to return eBooks

iPhone

Reading eBooks on your trusty device is all the rage!

For everyone who reads or listens to eBooks or audio eBooks on your iPhone, iPad or iPod: With the upgrade to iOS 5, you'll need to update your Overdrive Media Console. This affects just about everyone using an Apple device, whether you're downloading directly or downloading audio to Windows and then transferring. Update Overdrive Media Console now.

Question of the week: How do I return an eBook early?

Use the same technology you used to download the book.

The Community Technology Center is offering several eMedia classes in January that will teach you things like how to download library eBooks to your new Nook or to access eMedia from your Droid! With upgrades to the library's services and temporary changes, there is no better time to take the plunge! Once you learn how to put eMedia on your portable devices, you will be able to check out library books from the comfort of your own home without packing up your kids or finding a parking place! Sound good? Bring your device -- eReader, MP3 player, iPhone, Android, laptop, etc.

Getting Started With Overdrive Media Console

OverDrive iPhone app and Denver Public Library audio books -- at last!

I just discovered the OverDrive Media Console application for my iPhone! Now it's possible to find, download and listen to audio books without plugging your phone into a computer. This is nice if you're like me and don't want to haul around a laptop everywhere you go. Awesome. It's available at the iTunes Store for free! Add the OverDrive application to your iPhone or iTouch first, then start shopping!
