SPECIAL TEENS-ONLY SESSION (Grades 6-12):
Artist Adrian Molina will guide youth in surrealist and blackout poetry. Youth will explore ideas of “realism” and “surrealism,” surrealist art, and students create weird poetry from unexpected places. In blackout poetry, a minimalist form of poetry, youth use sharpies or markers to black out words on newspapers, book pages, or handouts. Instead of creating something out of nothing, youth work with the art of deconstruction. The lesson is finding a story within a story.
Soldering is how you fuse together two pieces of metal - it's how electronic components are held together on a circuit board. Come learn how to solder safely and leave with a badge which lets you use the soldering equipment we have in the ideaLAB.
