Learn How to File Taxes for Free with a Little Help From Library Staff
Tax season is underway and with the filing deadline of Monday, April 15 right around the corner, the IRS (Internal Revenue Service) recommends filing your return sooner rather than later. Do you have a fairly simple tax return? Are you interested in learning how to file your tax return? Do you need help with claiming the Child Tax Credit? We can help!
The Denver Public Library provides Free Guided Do-It-Yourself (DIY) tax assistance in partnership with Mile High United Way. Our sessions assist people in electrically filling out and filing their taxes for households with income less than $70,000. Our team of IRS-certified library staff is available to help answer questions and assist you with the filing process.
What does "guided" mean? It can be intimidating and downright scary to file taxes on your own. Guided means library staff are here to help answer questions and connect you to a variety of tax-related resources. If any topic is out of the program's scope or our training we will let you know and suggest finding a tax professional for additional help. Unfortunately, we cannot enter information or complete your taxes for you. Review the checklist below to determine if this option is the best for you.
