Stolen into Slavery is the true story of Solomon Northup, a free black man from New York who was captured in the United States and sold into slavery in Louisiana.  This incredible story is the inspiration for the movie Twelve Years a Slave, released in 2013. This incredible story follows Northup through his 12 years of captivity as a man kidnapped and sold into slavery, enduring the hardships of slave life he has never know in Louisiana. From his attempts to prove he is a free man, to attempting many escape plans, to gathering up the items needed to write a letter in hopes of it reaching his wife in New York, and finally befriending the man who would write the letters that help bring authorities to the attention that a free man is now working as a slave on a Louisiana plantation. But worry not because this incredible story has a remarkable ending. Northup is rescued from his master's cotton plantation by friends in New York, where he is reunited with his wife and three children. This compelling tale takes a look into a unknown part of history.
