This is one of the best books I read in 2013.  The Son is a multigenerational saga of the McCullough family. It starts in 1849 with the story of Eli McCullough and his kidnapping by the Comaches in the newly established Republic of Texas.  Intertwined with Eli’s story, are the stories of his son, Peter  set in 1915 and his great-granddaughter , Jeannie set during the last 70 years.  It was a fascinating story of the history of family as well as the history of Texas.   I was thoroughly engrossed and had a hard time putting this story down.  I highly recommend The Son.
