Don't be deceived by the title–this book is anything but simple. Our narrator (who is never named) meets Anna when she moves in to town. Soon they are a couple and he gets caught up in her world of writing obituaries for everyone in town, researching Houdini and spiritualism, and making up codes. When Anna disappears mysteriously (her dress is found laid out by a hole in the frozen river, but they never find a body), the whole town is left wondering what really happened to hear. Desperate to piece his life back together by figuring out what happened to Anna, the narrator searchers for clues in her life and her correspondence. This one will keep you wondering, even after you've finished reading it. Visit the book's web site: for a cool book trailer and more clues as to what happened to Anna–you'll have to reach your own conclusions.
