Reviewer Rating:

Did you know that a good search and rescue dog can detect cadaver scent emanating (during photosynthesis) from the leaves of a tree that has a body buried under it? Fascinating. Author Susannah Charleson reveals just how grueling search and rescue work can be, not to mention that most search and rescue teams are volunteers who have spend hundreds of hours training with their dogs and becoming certified before they are ever deployed. This is a great book for dog lovers and anyone curious about disaster response. It's written in a very accessible way and you really come to know the author and her dogs.
