Cooper, one of the young characters sums up volume 2 best: "Life isn't a video game. Sometimes people have to die." And they do. I am squeamish and while I made lots of faces and uttered some words out loud, the art and storyline kept me turning the pages. Each new chapter is kicked off with a splash page providing a compelling pause in the action. The political extremists and the disgruntled do walk among us which provides an eerily real backdrop to the zombie action. (Is society one big petri dish for a different kind of undead?) My two favorite characters, Detective Dana Cypress and her sister Em, are interesting and strong without being total caricatures. I am looking forward to the next installment. Check out volume 1 first!
