by A. S. (Amy Sarig) King

Reviewer Rating:

A tough, unflinching look at a dysfunctional family and one young man's efforts to survive it. Gerald was defined as "The Crapper" at age five while his family took part in a reality show. At seventeen, he is still trying to escape this legacy. He is angry all the time: at his sister Lisi for leaving him, and his sister Tasha for hurting him, and at his parents for not believing him. He struggles to trust and fall in love. He struggles to make friends. It's a fifty-fifty shot whether Gerald will end up in jail or graduate. For those readers looking for some stark realistic fiction, you can't do better than A. S. King. You'll remember Gerald long after you finish the last page.
