Penguin in love is one of the most heart warming books I have read in a while. It is a true romance from cover to cover, but simplifies it into the most basic of equations. This book haphazardly follows the lost item theme that people may be familiar with, think of Cinderella. Somebody lost a mitten, but when the story ends, the focus has shifted completely. The lost item really only serves as the catalyst to start the journey that leads the characters to love. I love Salina Yoon's illustrations. Her use of vivid color helps to differentiate between characters and the pictures really pop. There is a heart motif on pretty much every page and even though it is only a picture book, there are ups and downs to this book. The couple faces challenges, they have cute moments as you watch them fall for each other with every passing page. I loved this book from cover to cover because it seems so classic, like a tale older than time, something you would tell your grandkids generations from now. It sticks with you and leaves a smile on your face long after you put the book down.

I believe that everyone could benefit from reading this story because it touches on important life lessons like doing nice things for people and setting out on a journey bigger than yourself because you know it's the right thing to do. And who knows, maybe if we all did that, we could find a happy ending on our last page too.
