Even those that have never read the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency books by Alexander McCall Smith will enjoy this lighthearted mystery series starring Jill Scott. Combining indefatigable sass and ladylike charm, Precious Ramotswe is a force to be reckoned with! Set in beautiful Botswana, this is an excellent beginning to what is sure to be a great television series.

A great series but no star rating?

I give it 5 stars. I have loved Jill Scott since she walked on the music scene in 2000 "Who is Jill Scott". Her voice, her beauty, everything about her is awesome.
I watched this series not realizing what is was and was very impressed. While I think it got a lot of credit for being entertaining and something the family could watch compared to HBOesque shows. I feel it should have gotten more acclaim. I think this was Scotts first show and she did it justice. Scott is a newly single, brokenhearted woman starting a business because she has a good nose for finding out facts about things normally overlooked. Her father gave her the support to be who she wanted to be. So instead of going the route that is expected by society after her father passes away and leaves her a animal farm (I think it was pigs). She sells the animals and creates a detective agency. She employs an adorable secretary and together they solve small mysteries. It's a good weekend marathon watch that won't make you feel drained emotionally when your done.
