Reviewer Rating:

The author vividly recreates the theatre surrounding the historic visit of President Richard Nixon to China in 1972 while placing the trip in historic context. Readers learn about Henry Kissinger's secret trips to pave the way for the visit and some of the humorous cross-cultural misunderstandings and experiences that befell the advance team. Those interested in modern China and in modern geopolitics will find this a worthwhile read.
