by Greg Rucka

Reviewer Rating:

I've been following Rucka's work (Gotham Central, Queen and Country, runs on Wonder Woman and Batwoman) for quite some time now, and was excited to see the start of a new series with what looked to be another strong, complex female lead. The first volume of Lazarus did not disappoint, with an well drawn future world where families control everything from economics to politics to land, and each family's Lazarus is their protector and defender. Forever Carlyle fills this role for the Carlyle family, and throughout this first arc she faces violent confrontations, intrigue and betrayal, and complex family dynamics. Definitely a series to follow.
