Ivy Takes Care is a gentle book set in 1949. Ivy’s parents work on a ranch in Nevada.  The family doesn’t have much money.  Ivy’s best friend Annie comes from a wealthy family and Annie will be going away all summer to an elite summer camp.  Annie is getting more connected with her rich friends and leaving Ivy behind.  While Ivy spends the summer at home, she starts making money by taking care of animals.  Ivy’s gift for working with animals shines through.  She loves taking care of dogs, horses and even a family of foxes. 

This book is geared towards 8-11 year olds.  Readers who like animals, especially horses, will enjoy Ivy Takes Care.
