by John (John Anthony) Flanagan

Reviewer Rating:

For an adventure series, these books by John Flanagan are highly recommended. The characters and settings mimic a kind of Robin Hood medieval time and land, although everything here is in an imaginary land. However, the adventures are not supposed to be magical or fantastical but really possible and the derring-do and bravery required very human in it's impact.  In this particular adventure Evanlyn and Will, our heroes, end up captured by Skandians and taken tot he far north where they are enslaved. Each are able to buck up and be the determined one at different points while the other is less capable. It's a nice piece of the series only if you are already engaged and care about the characters. throw this title in if you have read Ranger's Apprentice books, but definitely it's not the place to start.
