by Malala Yousafzai

Reviewer Rating:

Malala is well-known as the schoolgirl victim of a shooting by the Taliban in Pakistan. This memoir brings her to life. She is still a schoolgirl who misses her friends, but she is also an experienced activist who can speak confidently in front of international diplomats. Malala and her family loved their community in Pakistan and her descriptions of the Swat Valley and the Pashtun people are vivid and warm. Living in Birmingham, England is very different and difficult for the family. You end up wishing them well and hoping that they have the opportunity to go back to their beloved home and see change.
