To say you enjoyed reading this book, is much like saying you like watching train wrecks. It is not that it was a bad book with poor writing. It is the very content that is troubling. This book is not for the faint of heart, however, if you decide to read it, you will not be able to put it down. David is enjoying his carefree summer, of catching crayfish by the creek and spending the days playing with his friends, the Chandler kids. The Chandlers have cousins that are now living with them after their parents died in accident. Meg is the older sister and Susan is recovering from the accident and is not as mobile. Soon after the girls arrive, David begins to see the mother of his friends, Ruth, slip in to madness. Her only joy seems to be torturing the two girls, particularly Meg. As her madness begins to infect her sons and their friends, David must make a choice to help the sisters before it is too late.
