by Matthew Quick

Reviewer Rating:

Nothing spreads sunshine and roses like a teen murder/suicide novel. From Matthew Quick, the author or Silver Linings Playbook and Sorta Like a Rockstar, comes the story of Leonard Peacock, a jaded, sarcastic 18 year old who has decidedly unhappy plans for his birthday. He is going to kill Asher Beal, formerly known as his best friend, with his grandfather's P-38 pistol. Then Leonard will kill himself. But first he must deliver a gift to each of the four people that matter to him in the world. Author Quick wastes no time presenting Leonard's murderous intentions, but he gradually reveals the motivation behind Leonard's plans, culminating in a gut check climax that confronts the nature of revenge, love, and mortality.
