Reviewer Rating:

Of all realistic teen fiction, Eleanor and Park is a great pick. We read about two high schoolers, neither of whom seem to fit in and how they learn to trust themselves and each other enough to love and be loved. It realistically portrayed the mind-numbing excitement of "firsts" in a relationship and the complex characters make you celebrate their highs and, like most teens, hate the world with them sometimes.

The book is very well written and also includes parts about school bullying and domestic abuse. It's a love story at its core and while the characters and their relationship are fascinating, the difficulty of reading about bad home situations and the lack of any kind of "adventure" make this fantasy-fan reviewer say only 4 stars. Not much really happens in the story, but I'm sure that was the point. Those reading the book for a realistic love story will be more than satisfied.

Very good read!
