"The Dog Stars" follows loveable Hig after a flu-pandemic that killed much of the known population, including his wife.  In the mean time, he protects his little piece of Colorado, as he seeks something greater.  "The Dog Stars" was a book that appealed to me from the very vague blurb, though as I started I was a bit taken aback by the violence in some scenes.  The characters were well developed and bring a smile to my face as I think about them.  "The Dog Stars" began slowly, but once I made it to the second half I could not put it down, right down to the neatly wrapped-up ending.
