by Boyd Varty

Reviewer Rating:

I am envious of people who spend time in the African wilderness and often enjoy the memoirs they write about their experiences. Boyd Varty is the 4th generation of his family to spend time on Londolozi, now a wildlife refuge and luxury lodge in South Africa. His unconventional childhood was spent among wild animals and some unusual human characters. He vividly describes both the privileges and challenges of this life. I enjoyed the descriptions of the African plains, the nearby neighbors from the Shangaan tribe, the animals, the family’s lifestyle. A really enjoyable read.
