Reviewer Rating:

Readers of classic Stephen King will enjoy this complex novel. It combines the bucolic coming of age story of Cory Mackenson, the narrator, with a darker narrative about the evil that lies below the surface of his small town. It is also a touching meditation on family and parenthood, as Cory and his parents are thrust into events that challenge and strengthen them as a family and as individuals.
