by Nick Harkaway

Reviewer Rating:

I tried to read this, but for some reason I couldn’t get in to it. I listened to it instead and I’m really glad I gave the book a second chance. Brilliantly read by Daniel Weyman, Angelmaker is about a thingamabob created in the heat of World War II by a scientist who is more interested in making things than which side benefits. Meanwhile, Joe Spork, law abiding son of a mobster has come upon this thingamabob, inadvertently making it operational and setting off a course of events that has all of the world’s governments on edge. Told with Harkaway’s rollicking voice, this mystery is an absurd and engaging look at what love and loyalty can do to a person.
