Writing Inclusive Women’s History

Do you know of any incredible women whose voices have not been amplified for all to hear? Your mother? A neighbor? Yourself?

Let’s celebrate Women’s History Month by writing the stories of unsung women who inspire us, from everyday heroes to rebels to quiet trailblazers.  

This virtual course is open to all older adult women, nonbinary people, gender non-conforming people, and femmes of all kinds.

Whether you are interested in writing memoir or biography, recording audio biography, or honing your storytelling skills, this course will help you gain experience in defining themes, providing context, playing with narrative voice, and crafting story arcs.

Teaching artist and biographer Andrea Asali will lead activities and reflections on how history is written and why inclusivity matters. At the end of the 6-week course, you will have a 5-page (or 5-minute) piece ready to share with others.

Registration is recommended. Virtual sessions will be held from 12-1:30 on Wednesdays March 8, March 15, March 22, March 29, April 5 and April 12.
