If you are a music lover, then you know the magic of a great song. Have you ever wondered how such songs are crafted? Do you wish you could create them yourself? Are you already writing songs and want to hone your skills? Then join us for this three-part workshop on songwriting. You can come to one or all of them -- it's your choice! But you must register for each one individually.

See below for session descriptions. Follow the links to register. If you need help, email Amy DelPo at adelpo@denverlibrary.org.

* Session One: Crafting Your Lyrics -- Learn about the tools of lyric writing and how to use them to tell your stories. This workshop is great for both experienced lyricists and beginners who are interested in dipping their toes in the water for the first time.

** Session Two: Crafting Composition -- We often think of songwriting as a lofty, mysterious activity for those highly educated in music. However, everyone has a song inside of them. This workshop is an introduction to the elements of musical composition, specifically as it relates to songwriting. There are no prerequisites for this workshop -- you do not have to know how to read music or musical notation.

*** Session Three: Writing Music and Lyrics -- Get a crash course on musical composition and writing lyrics, including tips and tricks on how to put them together and let one inform the other. You do not have to know how to read music to attend this workshop.

This workshop is taught by Jenny Stafford and is brought to you by Think 360 Arts for Learning. Jenny is a book writer, lyricist, and playwright. Her lyrics have been heard on Broadway (Paramour) as well as off Broadway and at various venues across the country.
