Punk Show and Tell with Tom (Head)Banger

Program Type: History
Ages: Adult

Description

Twenty years ago, seminal punk impresario Tom Headbanger donated his archive to the Denver Public Library.  He's decided to do a little show and tell session with some of the rock 'n' roll artifacts from the collection. Banger will share tales and memorabilia from the 1980's Denver Underground and intimate stories of the bands, events, and characters that shaped the early Denver hardcore scene, including:

  • How to become a promoter
  • Punk persecution, prosecution, and persistence
  • The Einsturzende Neubauten junkyard show and beyond
  • The infamous Nig-Heist arrest and bailout
  • Kennedy's Wherehouse: riots and revelry
  • Crazy venues: the Packing House, Dustbowl, and more
