Program Description

Event Details

Have you ever felt unsure of what to say or do in the face of death, illness, or divorce? You’re not alone. We are not taught how to walk alongside someone who is grieving, so we try to put away the pain. We may say things like, "You're young, you'll remarry!" or "Don't worry, you will have other children!" because we’re trying to say the right thing, but really we’re missing the mark. By trying to rescue a grieving person from their very difficult feelings, what we really do is cause them to feel isolated, alone and unable to share. In this session, we will explore ways to hold space for people who are grieving and will learn how to care for ourselves in that process.

This program is led by Jamie Sarche. Jamie is the director of pre-planning at Feldman Mortuary. A seasoned speaker, she brings deep experience in death care to a broad range of audiences around the country, sharing insights and approaches on how to have those difficult conversations and how to address sensitive issues. Extending well beyond death and dying, her message resonates across industries and individuals, bridging her passion to demystify death while enlightening communicators on overcoming challenging conversations.
