More about Toni Yagami and Taiko with Toni:

Toni Yagami shares her Japanese – American heritage as well as her knowledge of Japan’s culture and music through her performances. "Taiko with Toni" will bring an exciting "Matsuri" (Japanese festival) to our stage. The festival sound of Japan -- from traditional songs to contemporary compositions, folktales and cultural facts, lullabies to American traditional jazz and swing, folksongs to classical music pieces -- their "Matsuri" performance entertains and educates. In traditional costume, using taiko drums, various hand percussion, bamboo flutes, and occasionally the koto (Japanese harp), Toni and her troupe delight audiences all over Denver and Colorado.

More about Otoha Asano:

Born in an acclaimed Japanese taiko drum maker of 400 years, Otoha Asano was exposed to taiko from an early age. After graduating from the percussion department of Senzoku Gakuen College of Music, she began her career as a professional taiko player.  In 2008, she began teaching taiko in order to inspire as many people as possible through the art form. She is well known for her taiko performances that express the "delicate beauty", "inner feelings" unique to women. Through her activities with the women's taiko team" Honoo Daiko", she introduces the appeal of taiko to the next generation. She will offer an introduction to the taiko experience to attendees of this performance and workshop!
