Event Details
Loss and grief are both deeply personal and also universal experiences. The path through is not a simple one, but it is well worn and understood -- and you do not have to walk it alone.
Unfortunately, our culture does not support people talking about loss and grief, and many people are uncomfortable when these topics come up.
In this program, we seek to de-mystify the process, to normalize it, to provide reassurance that you are not alone.
Please join us as we gather together to explore the nature of loss and grief and how to navigate these very human experiences.
This is not a support group. Instead, it is an intellectual conversation. We will share knowledge and experiences, but not delve too deeply in personal grieving.
Please register below or email adelpo@denverlibrary.org for more information.
Our facilitator will be Joni Jackson-Malavasi. Joni's personal journey with grief and loss encouraged her to become qualified as a grief counselor to support and encourage people experiencing this painful, but not impossible, event. Joni recently earned her MSW from MSU Denver and is pursuing accreditation as an LCSW. Joni juggles a professional career that spans translating and interpreting as well as helping to facilitate grief support groups. If she isn't behind her computer, or in a Zoom session, you'll find her in the kitchen, trying to convince herself she just might be related to Julia Child.
