Esteemed New York City newspaperman J.J. Hunsecker (Burt Lancaster) has it all: power, recognition and the bulk of the big city's population eating out of the palm of his hand. The one narrative he can't control? Who his kid sister dates. When she's seen about town with a budding jazz guitarist, J.J. enlists seedy publicist Sidney Falco (Tony Curtis) to use every tool at his disposal to break the young couple up.
