In this third session of Brain Camp, we will begin our journey into caregiving. It is estimated that one in three of us will eventually deliver some form of care to someone living with dementia. This session includes a caregiving overview and a review of statistics, and it covers basics like project management, roles and responsibilities, daily tasks and activities, family dynamics, long-distance caregiving, and care options. We then progress to a comprehensive learning session regarding dementia communication and interaction tips as well as skills to better manage difficult behaviors. We will close with a discussion of caregiving challenges. The session will include plenty of opportunities for robust Q&A and discussion.
This series will be led by JJ Jordan of Dementia Friendly Denver. You can learn more about JJ here.
This series is presented in partnership with Dementia Friendly Denver and the Multidisciplinary Center on Aging at CU Anschutz.
