Program Description

Event Details

In honor of Ageism Awareness Day, we will explore ageism and take action to fight it. We will read and discuss Tracey Gendron's seminal, yet accessible book Ageism Unmasked: Exploring Age Bias and How to End It. This bold account of the history and present-day realities of ageism uncovers ageism’s roots, impact, and how each of us can create a new reality of elderhood. We will explore questions like:

  • Why does everyone want to live forever, but no one wants to be old?
  • Who profits from ageist thinking?
  • What is the toll that ageism takes on all of us, even young people?
  • Why is ageism such an acceptable form of discrimination and bias, even among older people?
  • Is there anything we can do to fight ageism?

This program has two sessions:

People who attend the first session will receive a free copy of the book!
