Carmen Lomas Garza is known for her colorful and detailed illustrations of memorable experiences with her family and their traditions. In this workshop, students will learn about different family traditions and create their own illustrated family stories.

What to bring: Your Book Explorers kit, if you received one, or just something to write with and something to write on. 

Dive deeper into our September theme, Hispanic Heritage Month, by picking up a kit at your Denver library, visiting us online, and looking at the online calendar for many more events celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month.

Book Explorers is a free program exploring books and fun enrichment activities for elementary school kids from kindergarten through fifth grade. Book Explorers connects eBooks and print books, online discussions and activities, virtual book club meetings, and take-home kits. It’s like a book club for kids that you can do anytime, anywhere.
