Author Melissa Homestead will give a general overview of her book The Only Wonderful Things: The Creative Partnership of Willa Cather and Edith Lewis, which recovers the romantic partnership of and literary collaboration between American novelist Willa Cather and magazine editor and advertising writer Edith Lewis. Homestead will also focus in on Cather and Lewis’s encounters with Colorado, including their 1915 trip to Mesa Verde National Park, which inspired part of Cather’s novel The Professor’s House, and their many visits to Denver, including Cather’s visits to the Denver Public Library in 1925 to research Death Comes for the Archbishop (1927).
