Program Description

Event Details

Please join visual artist and educator Maeve Eichelberger for an upcoming workshop focusing on collage, using materials within your home. This is not a scrapbooking course but instead a chance to learn about prominent collage artists from the past and present, such as Hannah Hoch, Romare Bearden, Wangechi Mutu and Mimmo Rotella. In this 1.5  hour workshop will explore visual elements of perspective, scale, texture, color, line, shape and pattern from cutouts in magazines, advertisements and newspapers and then create our own theme based masterpiece. No need to throw that junk mail away, save it  and come ready to explore imagery from a new perspective.

Materials List:

• Magazines, newspapers, and/or advertisements

• Bristol board, canvas boards, or thick paper (maybe even a cereal box)

• Scissors or Exacto knife (plus a cutting surface)

• Glue (stick or bottle)

About this series:

Art After Noon brings professional artists from throughout Colorado into your own home through Zoom to teach art and provide engaging, unique experiences. Designed specifically for people age 50+, these drop-in classes will inspire creativity and connection and will help you build artistic skills, all by using materials that you can find in your pantry or cabinets. Over the course of this series, we will explore printmaking, watercolor, collage, and other multi-media art forms. Each class is designed as a standalone experience -- come to as few or as many as you like. You must register for each one individually.
